White Chicken/Black Chicken/WTF?

(Inside joke)

Happy almost December. I can’t believe that I actually fulfilled my NaBloPoMo commitment. That’s crazy. I feel bad because my last week of posts has been quite insubstantial, but I’ll post a bunch tomorrow. Until then…

I’ve Been Missin’ You

Thanks for coming. :)

One More Day

We open tomorrow!  Come see Father of the Bride at Long Reach.  Performances are at 7:30 P.M. on 11/29, 11/30, and 12/1 and tickets cost $7 at the door.

I’m feeling a lot better about the show after tonight than I did this time last week.  Go us!

Dear Dooce: I Heart You.

We don’t recommend buying children at the grocery store – Yeah, I’d have to agree with you.

Feeling Powerless

I stood there, motionless, as she screamed for help. I was frozen in time, and I didn’t realize what was going on; I thought she was joking! Unable to move, I slowly backed away, my heart pounding. “Oh, God…”.

I never want to have that feeling again.

Getting Ready for Madness

AAAHHHH! I have two shows going up in the next two weeks, which means that, basically, my online life goes on hold until the middle of December. :(

Production week for Father of the Bride starts tomorrow, and we open on Thursday night and close on Saturday! Shows are at 7:00 PM on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and tickets cost $7 at the door ($5 pre-sale during lunch). After that, production week for Oz starts. I’m designing lights & sound for that show, which isn’t as strenuous as FotB, but I have to get all of my light cues done by Monday night (and the first time that I’m seeing the show is Saturday, and I’m not getting in to experiment with the light board/lights until Monday….yeah, I have three hours to design lights for a show).

In the meantime, feel free to head over the Call to Strike. I’ve written some new articles today, so that it won’t go two weeks without new content (my traffic is already falling!).

I’m going to try my hardest to post this week and uphold my NaBloPoMo commitments, but that might not happen. It would really suck to get disqualified during the last week!

Flock It!

I’ve been a fan of Firefox for a long time, and I’ve stuck with it forever. Really, I have. I’ve been using Mozilla browsers (whether it was Firefox, Mozilla, etc.) for four years now, and for the most part I’ve been pretty happy with them. But Firefox for Mac just SUCKS.

It ALWAYS crashes! It’s been particularly frustrating since I’ve been working on a lot of web design recently, and I just don’t have the time to force quit and restart Firefox or to wait out the spinning beach ball, which is a common occurrence these days.

So, I finally did it. I switched back to Flock. I couldn’t take it anymore. No more Firefox for me.

Now, I’m enjoying a crash-free internet browsing experience and awesome social network integration built-in! I love it. Of course, there will be problems down the line because some websites are “Firefox-only” and, even though Flock and Firefox are built off of the same platform, I will be denied access.

But for now, all is good again in the world.

Oh Happy Day…

I’m off to Pennsylvania (a.k.a. the land of nothing to do!) for the day.  Be back tonight.  :[

Call Me Frugal, But…

Why on earth would anybody want to get anything from Aeropostale or American Eagle when they can get the same thing from Old Navy for much less? Take, for example, this shirt that I just ordered from Old Navy (Men’s Plaid Flannel Shirts):

It’s a basic, black and gray flannel shirt, right? Originally $20, marked down to $10. Great. Now, stroll on over to the Aero website and find a similar shirt.

Are you kidding me? $35 dollars? Giving it a stupid name and the Aero branding apparently makes clothes worth almost twice as much as they’re worth at Old Navy. But, wait, it gets worse. Let’s check on our good friends at American Eagle, selling this shirt (it was the closest thing that I could find to the Old Navy style).

$40?!? Are you kidding me? It has one less pocket and an eagle on it, and that means that it can cost $20 more? That’s disgusting! And it’s not even on sale! Why would any sane person pay twice as much for almost the same thing?  And the biggest travesty of them all

$70 for a shirt that costs $20 at Old Navy?  Paying 350% of the Old Navy price somehow just does not appeal to me.  Keep in mind that, like the Old Navy shirt, this one is also 100% cotton (no differences in material or anything).

Not only is the price a steal in comparison, but Old Navy has a wider selection and their clothes last longer (I have a hoodie that I get from Aero on clearance for $12 [I only own two articles of clothing from Aero, and I bought them both on clearance] that frays like there’s no tomorrow!). I don’t understand how some people have huge closets full of clothes from these places and can still afford to eat! Sorry, but I get my clothes from Old Navy. Unfortunately, I can’t pull money out of my butt (and even if I could, I’d still shop at Kohls and Old Navy)!
