It’s too early for this.

The UHL program is in a much better place right now than it was two years ago. Everybody is happier and the quality of our shows has increased immensely. This year, we are producing Cinderella’s Glass Slipper, and the camp has been a lot of fun so far. Sure, the children are demons and there is nasty mold growing on the walls, but I’ve enjoyed myself.
But this year has also been the epitome of “too good to be true”. Our sound system is dying and we have no money to replace it. Similarly, we have no sort of acceptable stage lighting system in place currently. Well, actually, we do have money to replace it but we don’t actually have that money yet and only Kathy Griffin knows when that money is actually coming. And we’re running out of time.
So, to take my mind off of the technical catastrophe that I am enduring, I have decided to dream up an ideal theater technical system to make myself feel better. Here goes nothing:
Audio
- Behringer Eurodesk SL2442FX-PRO Mixer ($499.99) With more than 16 mic channels and a bunch of other cool crap that I don’t understand, this thing is an audio engineer’s dream.
- Nady U-81 Octavo LT Wireless Body Pack System ($799.95) Two Octavo systems would be fantastic. 16 mics that actually work…hallelujah!
Lighting
- Elation Stage Pak 2 ($399.99) A cool dimmer board and up to 12 DMX addresses WITH X- and Y-crossfaders? Heaven!
- American DJ PAR-38B Can ($29.99) Ten of these PAR Cans (but five of these two-packs) would give pretty good lighting for the intimate spaces that we perform in.
- American DJ PAR-56 Can ($44.99) Two of these cans to fill the twelve dimmer switches would round out the fantasy of amazing, low-cost stage lighting.
- Musician’s Gear Lighting Stand with Truss ($129.99) Easy, effective way to provide effective foh lighting.
- American DJ LTS-6 Lighting Tripod Stand ($44.99) For on-stage lighting, would work best with a pentagonal stage.
So there you have it. Minus the cost of lamps, speakers, and some misc. cables that are probably necessary, the cost comes to $3,089.77. Not too shabby! A full set of theater tech for under $4,000.
Testing flickr stuff. Yay!
From a recent conversation with my father:
“You can kill all the trees that you want to…we’ve got a whole world full of them!”
Eeek. My report card just came. And my parents have seen it (but they haven’t said anything about it yet). This year was probably my worst academic year. Ever. Here were my fourth quarter and final exam grades:
| Class | 4th Quarter Grade | Final Exam Grade |
| AP Government | A | A |
| GT Chemistry | C | D |
| Independent Research GT | A | A |
| Algebra II GT | C | C |
| Spanish III H | A | A |
| Drama II | B | A |
| English 10 GT | B | B |
I’m mostly worried about Chemistry and Algebra. Getting three C’s and a D is definitely a first for me and I know that my mother is going to flip a lid. My GPA for fourth quarter was 3.14, but luckily my cumulative GPA is a 3.43, which isn’t that bad and I know that I’ll be able to bring that up next year. This was the hardest academic year that I’ve ever had, and I’m looking forward to next year being more manageable. I feel really sick and disappointed
I need to go lie down.
So the surgery went pretty well. I was only under for about twenty minutes, and when I woke up everything had worked out fine! I spent most of Monday shoving gauze down my face and trying to stop the bleeding from the four open wounds in my mouth and laying on the couch. This whole week has been spent watching marathons of Kathy Griffin and Top Chef and Work Out on Bravo and watching some random movies that were DVR’d. I also downloaded Kathy Griffin’s new CD For Your Consideration. I laughed myself into stitches…or however it goes, which is funny because I actually have stitches in my mouth! I crack myself up.
It kind of suck because I can’t exert myself at all. Anything that gets my heart raised even a little bit will make my mouth start bleeding again. For example, it began bleeding after I raced up and down the steps yesterday to get a drink and return to my movie and I had to shove more gauze down my throat. It was bad. But I got some pretty awesome painkillers that really help.
Regardless of the efficacy of the painkillers, I want to go running and eat solid foods again. I’m ready for this to be over.
I’m getting my wisdom teeth extracted tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM.
I’m not sure how much I’m gonna be online over the next few days, so my blogging will be…sparse. Wish me luck!
P.S. – all of you Obama-loving comment spammers can shove it. Precious is not the “messenger from the Lord for the American people”. Thank god for comment spam filters. Viva la Hillary!
What Obama Looks Like In Hillary’s Dreams
I agree with #1. It’s very true. And speaking of anti-Obama/Precious, I’d like to re-post a recent quote from The Confluence:
(0)I expect Obama will once again run from [the accusation that he is Muslim], deny it, and throw Muslims under a bus, along with the rest of us who are already there. It’s getting might crowded under the bus these days. But this will not make him more presidential. This will only make him the craven empty suit we know he is. #
