Integrity

Okay, I debated writing this entry for awhile because I knew that a lot of my readers support Barack Obama, but this needs to be said.  I’m not sorry if you don’t like it, and I hope you understand where I’m coming from.

I cannot support Barack Obama.  Those of you who know me know that I am most likely one of the most radical, liberal individuals that you will ever meet.  Up until a few months ago, I had vowed to do everything that a 16-year-old could do to keep a Republican from getting elected in November.  In light of recent events, however, that has slowly begun to change.

Since, the corrupt, misogynist Democratic National Committee got their way and Obama was selected as the Democratic nominee (as opposed to actually being elected by the voters), I will be supporting John McCain in November.  Although I disagree vehemently with the conservatives on many issues, I refuse to support an arrogant, presumptuous individual who led a twisted campaign and was not truly elected by the people.

First, the primary season was ‘rigged’; if you count Florida and Michigan (because there’s truly no logical explanation behind the Rules and Bylaws committee’s closed-door meeting [that, I might add, is a violation of their own rules] and subsequent ruling that disenfranchised millions of voters who voted for Hillary Clinton), Hillary did win the popular vote.  In addition, numerous institutions and individuals have admitted that the caucus system that is in place mostly in states that Obama carried is outdated and corrupt and needs to be replaced, so why are we counting those states at face-value and giving Hillary’s delegates to Obama?

Secondly, there was obvious media bias against Hillary Clinton during the primary season.  I prefer to use CNN as my news outlet of choice, but even I will admit Fox News provided more balanced, equal coverage of candidates than did CNN.  I am disgusted and appalled by the mainstream media’s misogynist attitude towards Hillary and their “chosen one” attitude towards Barack Obama that continued even after she suspended her campaign.  I could go on to link a thousand different examples of the media bias, but I think this video does a pretty good job of proving my point.

The final reason that I will never support Barack Obama is because he has done absolutely nothing to court my support.  Except for that ridiculous Unity rally earlier this summer where Hillary and Obama appeared together, Obama has done absolutely nothing to convince me that he is a better candidate than John McCain.  In fact, he seems to be pushing me farther away.

So there you have it.  Although I will always believe that Hillary Clinton is the best candidate who would really invoke serious, meaningful ‘change’ (Mr. Obama’s favorite word) and I will support her future political campaigns, I will be supporting John McCain this November

Call me stubborn and defiant, lambaste me with your accusations of racism, and tear me down; I don’t care.  It seems like us PUMA’s are the only people who are willing to stay true to our beliefs and principles these days, and I’m proud to say that I maintained my integrity and refused to support an elitist candidate who was pushed to the top by a corrupt political institution.  This is not about the issues anymore, it’s about democracy. People United Means Action.
