The First of Many

Last night, I had my first stage manager dream/nightmare about Music Man.  It wasn’t that bad, but I want to chronicle it so that I can look back later and laugh.

First of all, every single set piece was made of cardboard.  Including a staircase.  No, I’m not taking about a reinforced wooden frame that was covered in cardboard.  I’m talking about a bunch of boxes that were duct-taped together and called set pieces.  Besides being a huge safety hazard, it was impossible to move them because they were so flimsy and they kept turning inside-out.

Second, the venue was FREAKY.  It was the DLC theater inisde the Mount View cafeteria that was inside the Mayfield building (and my old band teacher was there).  But to be honest I would prefer this because we actually had wingspace and a backstage and real lighting and monitor speakers and BLACK CURTAINS and a black stage floor and I didn’t have to drive across the county to go to rehearsal.

Third, the assistant director (tboll) went wackadoo.  I had no idea what she was doing or saying.

Fourth, Briana was in the show and had to make out with the little middle school kid who is playing Harold.

Fifth, somebody decided to pull out the second act of The Music Man and replace it with the second act of The Wiz.  It was an interesting interpolation…patriotic Winkies dancing around with new band instruments.

And sixth, I was dressed hideously.  I was wearing an olive/green t-shirt under a bright pink vest.  I think that was the worst part of the dream.

Time To Be Well Again

Today is my last sick day.

I went to the MinuteClinic at CVS yesterday and the doctor there determined that I had the flu AND strep throat and prescribed antibiotics accordingly.  Luckily, the flu is mostly over now (with the exception of runny nose, blech) and it was very mild because I was vaccinated in December.  The strep throat is still here a little bit and I’m still contagious, but with the help of the antibiotics I will be ready to come out of hiding go to school tomorrow.

So today?  Not going to be as fun as my other sick days.  I’m actually going to shower and put on clean clothes today!  And do homework that was due last week!  And clean my room that has quickly been spiralling downwards into a deep, dark, messy hole.

And then I will lay on the couch and hope that tomorrow never comes.

This five-day break was fantastic.  Even though I was terribly sick, it was nice to just sleep!  I must say that I picked a good weekend over which to be sick, because I will be going back to a three-and-a-half-day week.  I’m home today, Thursday is a half day, and we have no classes on Friday.  So only going to school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and half of Thursday will be nice.

My only regret?  That this totally screwed me over for perfect attendance.  I had it all first semester, but not so much anymore.  I guess there’s always senior year…yeah right!

A Momentous Occasion

I got my learner’s permit today!  Nine months late!  I was sick but I still dragged my butt out of bed, went to the MVA (the DMV of Maryland) and stood in three different lines for a total of three hours.  I was nervous as heck while I was taking the practice test and I got three questions wrong (so I barely passed…oops), but I passed nonetheless.  The picture on the card is crap, but I wasn’t expecting it to be a glamour shot (but apparently I was in too much pain from being sick that I forgot to SMILE.  I look very confused in the picture).

I can get my license on August 21, ten days after my seventeenth birthday. :)

PERMIT!

Oh BTW I’m not wearing lipstick, my lips are supremely chapped (from being sick).  They hurt so bad it’s not even funny.  There’s like a whole stick of chapstick on them in that picture.

Sick Days

This is the second day that I’ve been home sick.  I’ve been eating graham crackers, drinking water, and laying on the couch watching TV for 36 hours.

I want something to do.

I kind of want to vlog but I have nothing to vlog about.

I only have one more show left in the DVR to watch.

There is no food in this house.

I am broke.

Good day!

I’ve Always Wanted A Pet

But I think my standards are too high.  Here are my criterion:

  • No shedding.
  • No walks three times a day.
  • No pooping or peeing or farting or diarrhea.
  • No chewing up the furniture.
  • No scaring people.
  • No allergies.
  • No sickness or injury.
  • Must be able to protect me in the event of an intrusion.

I think the only pet that I will be happy with is a pet rock.  Or a Tamagotchi.  Possibly a butterfly.  But how will the butterfly protect me?  I can throw the rock or Tamagotchi at the home invader, but the butterfly will be useless.  Or what about an inflateable butterfly?  Absolutely no care requried and, in the event of an emergency, I can open the blowhole and all of the  air inside the butterfly will blow into the intruder’s face and make his/her contacts extremely dry and irritable.

Today is Valentine’s Day

Note that I did not say “HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!”.  No exclamation, just a declaration.  I am SICK of this “holiday”!

I tried (again) to get my learner’s permit today and (again) was unsuccessful.  Apparently, I still do not have the correct documentation.  And the woman working there today told me the EXACT opposite of what the guy there last time told me.  So, I am still kind of clueless.  And I’m running out of time.  I need to get my permit in the next week in order to have my license before school startes next year.  The MVA is…retarded.

After that, I cleaned.  And cleaned.  And then ate.  I’m still waiting for “the call”.  If it doesn’t come tomorrow, then I will be making the call myself on Monday.

I am ready for spring.  I like to call this part of the year (January to the middle of March) “The Dark Ages” because it basically sucks.  I am ready for nice weather and singing birds and sunshine and tans and flip flops and no stupid freaking keratosis pilaris.

In As Few Words As Possible…

This week was long.  And stressful.  And crazy.  And now, it’s OVER.

:)

Happy Friday.

Time Warp

What month is it? I feel like the hands on my body clock have been spinning so fast that they flew off, leaving me dazed and confused.

I’ll start at the beginning. We had midterm exams two weeks ago. We were scheduled to have the Monday after midterms off. That evening it snowed two or three inches and we had off of school on Tuesday. Then, on Tuesday evening it iced and we had off on Wednesday, also. After being off for almost a whole week, I was discombobulated enough and felt like we had winter break all over again.

We had a two-day week last week, which threw me off even more. Then, yesterday, it was 60 degrees. I had to check myself and remember that it was February. The warm weather is still lingering today (it’s 50 degrees at the moment), but it’s supposed to snow tonight.

Help me.
