Time To Disconnect the Cable…

Breaking: ABC benches ‘Ugly Betty’ – EW.com

Are you kidding me?  Which amazing show will be cancelled next?  First it was Reba, then Jericho, then Instant Star, then Miss-Guided, then Eli Stone, then Pushing Daisies, and now Ugly Betty?  Granted, the haven’t gone so far as to cancel it, but this seems to be a red flag of sorts.  What shows are left to watch?!  Lost and Grey’s Anatomy.  And honestly, GA has gotten a little mundane for me and VERY predictable.  I have to be honest in saying that I wouldn’t be upset if last week’s episode was the finale.  It was a good episode to close on.  Just give me an Owen & Cristina spinoff (and not Private Practice, that show is horrible) and I’ll be happy.

But, I digress.  This is really getting out of hand.  I went from following six primetime series on ABC/CBS/NBC/Fox to watching two because all of the good shows were cancelled!  I spend more time watching CNN and Bravo than any of the old networks.  I must say that I am happy to see Samantha Who? returning, but not at the expense of Betty.

What I’m surprised at the most is that networks haven’t figured out that people would rather watch these shows than The Bachelor, Survivor 66254, Amazing Race 984625, etc. The only good reality shows these days are coming off of Bravo (Top Chef, Flipping Out, Kathy Griffin, Real Housewives, etc.).

THIS SUCKS!!!

(Oh and PS – if anybody else is getting fed up, maybe you should shift your entertainment sources from television and movies to live theater, eh?  Help me pay my bills? Haha…)

A Busy Week

Well, damn.

This week has been pretty busy.

On Saturday, we waved goodbye to Reba (the show). The series finale aired on Sunday…I know I didn’t start watching the show until last season, but it was still an awesome show. I’m sad to see it go! At least they have (practically) the whole show on DVD…can you say Christmas present?

I had my English presentation on Tuesday. I was totally freaking out about it and I felt that I wasn’t prepared and that I was going to mess up and blah-blah blah-normal-nervous-banter-that-goes-on-in-my-head. It went wonderfully! I was really proud of myself, and the whole class seemed to really enjoy it. Most of the other projects were really good, too. It was a fun experience, and I’m actually glad we did it. I haven’t had any presentations or performances lately and I was thankful to be in front of people again…I was going into withdrawal.

We finished learning Hand Jive for Grease. The dance is so much fun…it’s awesome! Claire and I are the final couple to get eliminated before it’s down to the “main couples” or whatever you wanna call them. The choreography is a lot of fun! It’s really interesting, too. High school musicals are so much better than other shows I’ve done. There’s another layer of complexity. There’s more harmony, variety in the dances, etc. I love it!

I had my science fair presentation today. Blech. I really didn’t want to go, and I was extremely bored by the whole event. I hadn’t really even looked at/thought about my project since my presentation (over a month ago), but all things considered, I think the presentation went well. I scored major projects with the judges because my project was relevant (there were real-world applications). I felt really out of place, though, because all of these other projects had paragraphs and paragraphs (literally) of information on the boards, and I had horrible cutting, TWO whole paragraphs, and blurry pictures. Oh, well. My presentation was very thorough and I new what I was talking about. I’m not expecting to place, though.

2006 In Review

Well everybody, it’s that time of year, and you know what that means! Time for my third annual YEAR IN REVIEW POST (yes, I said THIRD ANNUAL!)!

This year, things are going to run a bit differently, because the way I did things last year kind of pissed everybody off. I’ve removed “Biggest Mistakes” from my list, and “Biggest Enemies” has been replaced with “Bitch, You’re On Thin Ice!”. Some other categories have been switched around, also, because they just don’t fit with what’s happened this year.

I’m going to post the nominees today (December 30), and announce the winners on New Years Eve (that’s tomorrow, isn’t it?).

But, anyway, let’s begin with the nominees.
