Wicked Awesome!

As you may or may not know, last Thursday I saw Wicked at the Hippodrome in Baltimore.

Two words: Ah-fricking-mazing.

Oh lordy, that was probably one of the best, if not the best, stage performances I have EVER seen. And I’m not even kidding about that. The cast was amazing. I hadn’t really heard of any of them before, but they had enough talent to…fill a…a really big thing. Victoria Matlock (Elphaba) was absolutely stunning. Her performance blew me away. I didn’t see Idina Menzel on Broadway (and I do love Idina), but judging from the soundtrack, I think it’s safe to say that Victoria blew Idina Menzel out of the water. Her voice is wonderful, her stage presence is stunning, and her acting abilities were breathtaking. Her chemistry with Christina DeCicco (Galinda) was spectacular, and their performance of “For Good” was overflowing with raw emotion. I was (almost) moved to tears.

And if the acting wasn’t extraordinary enough, the actual book and music of the play was magnificent. I was in awe when I first heard the original cast soundtrack, but seeing and hearing the book, also, just stupefied me! The technical aspects of the show were stunning, also! The rain effect was extrememly realistic, and I actually thought it was raining onstage. The sets were wonderful, too! I loved the use of lighting and how they moved sets during the scene; they didn’t go to blackout.

I would recommend it to everbody. Seriously. There’s nothing I can say…it’s a wonderful show with wonderful actors.

God, it was four days ago, but I’m still amazed by Wicked.

Wicked runs through February 18, 2007 at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center (The Hippodrome Theater in Baltimore). Ticket prices range from $34-$80. The show runs under three hours.

It’s Snowing!

Yay!

I was just getting ready to blog and say that we were STILL waiting for the snow to start falling! I turned around to check one last time, and, alas, it’s snowing! And it’s like….REALLY snowing! It’s awesome…it started about ten minutes ago and it’s already starting to cover the deck. I would post pics, but unfortunately you can’t really see much of the snow right now on camera. I’ll put some on Flickr a little later.

Speaking of Flickr, I’ve decided to become more active there. My photostream hasn’t really been updated with new pictures in a couple of months, so I’ve decided to get back into photography. I found my camera today, and I realized that it really sucks. Very badly. All it can really do is take pictures, due to the fact that I dropped it last summer (2005?) and the little knobby thing broke. Originally, I just wasn’t able to zoom in, but then somehow the down knobby thing broke, so I couldn’t zoom in OR out OR access menus or anything. It was quite a horrible tragedy, if I do say so myself. But I’ll survive.

Anyway, I decided to do so because I realized that photography is a great medium with endless possibilities. I used to take so many pictures! I had so much fun with it, and then after I busted my camera, it just kind of…faded out. Last year, during our annual trip to Indiana, I took 195 pictures (the first knobbly thing broke at the end of that trip). This year, I took three. All of which I voluntarily deleted because they sucked. Now, grated, I did take a few with my mom’s camera, but still. I’ve enjoyed having a camera phone, which allows me to take pictures on-the-go easily (most of my recent FaceBook pictures are from my phone), but the quality isn’t wonderful.

So, look for updates to my Flickr page soon! sideways

2006 Blizzard

Just for fun, here’s a pic that I snapped during our one and only blizzard last year (click on the thumbnail for the larger version). I actually don’t remember too many of the details…I know that it started snowing pretty late at night. It was really dark out, and I was doing some random crap at the computer. Every time it’s supposed to snow, I glue my eyes to The Weather Channel website and refresh the radar map every ten seconds, waiting and hoping to see that huge cloud of white over the dot that says Columbia…hey, I can be excited, can’t I? But, this particular night, I was excited because it was a Wednesday, I think, and if it snowed enough, then it meant that there would be no school on Thursday, and we hadn’t had a snow day all year (It was already February!). It snowed and snowed all night after I went to bed, and when I woke up, there was no school!

Edit: It’s up on Flickr! I know, it’s not a lot of snow (yet), but it was enough to get Blasko to cancel rehearsal!

IT’S GONNA SNOW!!!

Merry Christmas, Pt. 2

Okay, here’s my real Christmas post.

Let’s start off with gifts, shall we? I got:

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements
  • Photoshop Elements book by Scott Kelby (it rocks!)
  • La Vie Boheme Sweatshirt
  • “God Uses a Mac” T-shirt
  • “If you need something, don’t heistate to ask someone else” T
  • Blue Old Navy fleece
  • Rent DVD
  • Lost Season 2 DVD
  • $45 in iTunes Music Store gift cards
  • “Wacky Websites” Page-A-Day Calendar
  • “Without You”, Anthony Rapp’s Memoir
  • Subscription to Wired magazine!
  • TICKETS TO WICKED IN FEBRUARY!

There’s probably more, but that’s all I can remember as of now.

Christmas Day was pretty fun. We opened presents at 8, and until 1 in the afternoon I fooled around with Photoshop and the book. I didn’t really make anything special; I was still learning.

Then, we went to my aunt’s house for Christmas dinner. That was pretty fun. I saw my three cousins again. They are crazy, lol, but I still love them. She gave my $45 in iTMS gift cards in exchange for teaching her how to use her new iPod/iTunes. That was a good trade-off.

Over the past few days, I’ve mainly been fooling around with Photoshop and working on a web design project (see below), which is almost finished. It looks very good and I’m proud of it!

My little iTMS binge has introduced my to a new band; Hellogoodbye. They have that “Here (In Your Arms)” song that’s getting airplay. I really liked it, so I bought a few of their remixes and other songs. I also bought a song from Plain White T’s (”Hate [I Really Don't Like You]“) and a couple of Reba songs (yes, maybe I am getting into country music. Shoot me!). I love music.

I hope everybody had an awesome holiday…I don’t want break to end. I have to start working on my Grease audition, which is next week. This is going to be a stressful few days until [next] Friday, when the cast list is posted. Wish me luck!
